Clamped Vehicle - Evidence Checklist

Documents on the vehicle: A close-up photo of all documents "Warning of Immobilisation" placed on the vehicle, showing the bailiff’s name and date.
Hire purchase agreement: A full copy of the hire purchase agreement (up to 10 pages, clearly readable).
Settlement quotation: A settlement quotation from the lender’s website showing the outstanding balance and date.
Payment screenshot: A screenshot of recent monthly payments made to the lender.
HPI check: A screenshot of a Basic HPI Check showing "Vehicle subject to finance" and the current date.
V5 logbook: A copy of the front page of the V5 Logbook showing the registered keeper’s address and date acquired.
Check the warrant address: If your old address is on the Warrant of Control, call the Traffic Enforcement Centre on 0300 123 1059. If they accept your old postcode during security, it shows the warrant is defective which invalidates enforcement.
Occupation details: Your occupation details for the witness statement (no need to name your employer).
Vehicle use for work: Confirm if the vehicle is used for work or trade and how it is used.
Lost earnings: State your lost earnings. Use income from the past 90 days, divide by 90, and multiply by the number of days you were without the vehicle. Provide evidence of earnings.
Wasted vehicle costs: Provide proof of wasted vehicle costs such as insurance, tax, parking permits, and other ongoing charges.
Clamping location: Give the location where the vehicle was clamped and how far it was from your home.
Victim Impact Statement: A statement explaining how losing the vehicle affected your daily life (e.g. getting to work or appointments).
Disbursements: List disbursements like sticker removal charges, HPI check costs, and anything else already paid.
Receipts: Receipts for car hire, taxis, public transport, temporary insurance, and hotel stays if applicable.
Legal costs: A breakdown of court and legal fees (e.g. phone advice or application fees), to be claimed using form N260.
Bank details: Your bank account number and sort code for the letter of claim.
Police report: If reported to police, provide the crime or incident reference and a brief summary of what was reported and the police response. If not reported, no problem.
